ALERT: With the Springfield branch of the MSPCA closing, homeless animals in our area will have very limited resources available.
The only shelter available nearby is the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Shelter which has very limited space.
The Thomas J. O’Connor Facility is a pound for several large cities, Springfield, Holyoke, Chicopee, West Springfield and a smaller town, Hampden. The O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center does not accept any animals from other areas.

Due to the MSPCA closing, more than ever, we need to encourage spaying and neutering to reduce the number of homeless pets. Please consider joining us by becoming a member of the Northampton SPCA. Your membership will help to get more cats and dogs spayed and neutered. Membership info is below.

The Northampton Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a local, independent, volunteer organization dedicated to helping animals in the Greater Northampton, Massachusetts area.
The NSPCA is not affiliated with the MSPCA, we are still here working to help animals in our area!

The Northampton SPCA is a registered non-profit that has been in existence since at least 1965. Our records prior to that date have been lost over the years!
The NSPCA's goal is to prevent the suffering of animals and to help reduce the number of unwanted and homeless cats and dogs by encouraging spaying and neutering. In this way, we work to prevent the problem before it starts. Increased spaying and neutering will help reduce the number of animals left waiting in shelters for a new home and/or euthanized.
The NSPCA provides financial assistance in the form of coupons through 11 area Veterinarians. Currently these coupons offer a 30% discount.
In addition, as funds permit and on a case by base basis, the NSPCA assists with the spaying and neutering and vaccinations of feral cats. Since we do not have a shelter facility, we cannot take animals in. In light of that, prior to receiving approval for financial assistance for feral cats, the person requesting assistance must have a plan to provide ongoing care for the cats.
Please join us in helping the animals right here in our area.
Annual memberships are:
Student/Senior Citizen: $15.00 Single: $20.00
